Proposed Government Internet Filter - Save the NetWell I guess under the new Proposed Government Internet Filter for Australia this page may be blocked, so I may as well put it up until it is. Because under a proposed Government Internet filter, the content on this page may not be considered to be in the public's best interest and may then be blocked, so here goes… Here we go again; The proposed Australian Government Internet Filter
has raised its ugly bloody head again. Melbourne SEO expert Jim Stewart of Stewart
Media demonstrates by using Google Incites the vast differences when
he compares the terms of "Bullying" and "Child Porn".
I think you'll find the experiment quite intriguing. You be the
judge. Although the Testing is way behind schedule, the Australian Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy or should we start calling him, " Comrade Conroy", wants to put legislation through the Australian Parliament next August, enacting such draconian measures regarding the content Australians may see on the Internet. This would reduce Australia, a proud country of many freedoms and a proud democracy to the level of a dictatorship when it comes to Internet content. To see the Minister's Home Page, where he has actually got this right on his home page, as proud as punch, visit: http://www.minister.dbcde.gov.au/ If this rubbish goes through, it would be the first of its kind in a western democracy. The only hope now is that unless opinions change in the Australian Senate, that the Senate, (one of the most powerful upper houses in the world), could still block a proposed draconian Government Internet Filter. As far as I'm aware there's not much support for it in that place. One can only hope that our Senate, where the Government doesn't have the numbers gets this one right! For people who know what they are doing, A Government Internet filter WILL NOT block all undesirable content and any filtering will only serve to waste a whole lot of Australian Tax Payers money. I wonder if the Government had ever thought of spending all that same money on educating parents on how to keep their own children safe while on the Internet? WOW! There’s a novel approach!!!! Hay? Hay, maybe, if we should all send Comrade Conroy a copy of our national Anthem, (I'm sure he's missed it along the way some ware), in the first verse, it says:- Australians all let us rejoice for we are young and free , yeah right!!! Stephen, this is not responsible Government, nore it is NOT acceptable behavior. If you want to take action, sign the Get-Up petition widget below.
